Telangiectasis / Thread Viens and Cherry Angioma
Telangiectasis /Thread Viens - These are a permanent dilation of the small, superficial blood vessels on which are found on the face, neck, around the nose and on the chest of both men and women from the age of 20. They may appear individually or as a very fine network as wavy red lines (thread veins), “red spots” or red spots with red lines radiating from them (Spider Naevi).
Cherry Angioma- These are a concentration of blood present on the surface of the skin. They may be tiny red marks or appear as a round, raised lump and vary in colour from bright red to dark purple.
What Causes Thread veins?
Several factors contribute to the formation of thread veins, but fundamentally they all revolve around placing pressure on capillaries and finer veins, resulting in damage or expansion. These include:
- Genetic Inheritance
- Prolonged Sun Exposure
Treatments available to treat thread viens and cherry angioma?
Shortwave Diathermy - A safe, fast and effective treatment using the tip of the finest, smallest probe is introduced along the line of the blemish and a tiny energy current (Short Wave Diathermy) is discharged. The current heats up and coagulates the tiny capillaries, its contents dispersed and destroyed by the heat and reabsorbed by the body.
