Principal Clinical Psychologist
Dr Lauren Colgan
I'm an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with over 18 years' NHS experience, most recently as a Principal Clinical Psychologist. I have worked in senior clinical and leadership roles supporting people with trauma, psychosis, neurodevelopmental differences and complex mental health difficulties. I'm passionate about challenging stigma, helping people make sense of their experiences, and finding hopeful paths forward, even when life feels overwhelming or stuck.
I offer specialist autism, ADHD and psychological diagnostic assessments. I have extensive experience conducting comprehensive psychological assessments, particularly where presentations are complex or overlapping. My aim is to help you develop a clear understanding of your difficulties and the support that is most likely to help. Following your assessment, you will receive a detailed report with personalised recommendations for you and your network along with a feedback appointment to discuss the findings and answer any questions.
I also offer brief psychological therapy (typically 6–8 sessions), drawing on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy. Therapy is tailored to your individual needs, helping you understand the patterns underlying your difficulties and develop practical strategies for lasting change. Whether you are seeking clarity through assessment or support to move forward, my aim is for you to leave with greater clarity, practical recommendations, and confidence about how to move forward.
